Insurance is not care. When we talk about health care issues in this country, it is necessary to acknowledge that the quality of care is not conflated with the price of insurance.
Access to care is where insurance comes into the discussion… but it is necessarily subject to the primary issue of care itself. What happens when we address insurance as the totality of health care policy, we can only ascribe bureaucracy as the solution. Paperwork, insurance funding and application, the minutiae of vocabulary like deductible/co-pay/etc become more important than diagnoses and treatments.
If we truly cared about providing quality health care to Americans, then we would be building public hospitals rather than paying into the shared delusionary fraud of health insurance.
